To shrink layers you can use a tool that is in the top of your toolbox. When the layer is selected, chose the tool that looks like a cursor with a little plus sign (or four directional arrow), that will give you the option to drag the corners of the image to change the size
Thanks Anneke! I was just playing with it more this afternoon. I actually found all the pictures I was working on that I thought I lost. So very strange. It's like a new language. I lost my work many times and kept restarting. I'll get there :)
